Snowboy And The Latin Section
From September, Europes leading Afro Cuban Jazz group, Snowboy and the Latin Section, will be touring across the UK in celebration of their 16th album, ‘New York Afternoon’. This album also marks their 30th Anniversary.
With over 4 months heavy play on Jazz FM and such great reviews in the music press, the album can hardly be missed. The album features his favourite Jazz singer, Jen Kearney, and Snowboy is proud to be flying her over from Boston, USA, especially for this tour. Already a star on the east coast of America, this will mark the European debut of this unbelievable recording artist, where she will feature with the band and also play support. Snowboy has recorded or performed percussion with artists such as Lisa Stansfield, Imelda May, Amy Winehouse, Rod Temperton, Mark Ronson, Basia, Simply Red, Makoto Kuriya, Flaco Jimenez, Airto Moreira, Deodato, Mick Hucknall, Herman Olivera, Jon Lucien, James Taylor Quartet, Mica Paris, Incognito, Patti Austin and many many more. More importantly he is also the leader of Europe’s leading Afro-Cuban Jazz group, featuring a who’s-who of the UK’s most exciting and pyrotechnic Jazz and Latin players. ‘New York Afternoon’ draws on Jazz Dance classics, Salsa, Mambo and Latin Jazz, and captures the block party feel of 1970’s New York, inspired, as ever, by the greats such as Eddie Palmieri and Tito Puente.
Not only will this tour feature the whole album, but will also feature various songs from his past 15 albums, so this is a unique treat not to be missed. Not only is this Snowboy’s 16th album, but after recording for over 30 years, New York Afternoon is his most unique and ambitious one yet.
